Self-Recovering Extended Kalman Filter for Frequency Tracking

This paper proposes a new nonlinear filtering algorithm called the self-recovering extended Kalman filter (SREKF). In the SREKF algorithm, the EKF’s failure or abnormal operation is automatically diagnosed. When the failure is diagnosed, an assisting filter, a nonlinear finite impulse response (FIR) filter, is operated. Using the output of the nonlinear FIR filter, the EKF is reset and rebooted. In this way, the SREKF can self-recover from failures. The SREKF is applied to a frequency tracking problem for demonstration of its effectiveness.

This paper presents a Rauch-Tung-Striebel backward smoothing (RTSBS) methodology applied to the integrated particle filter (IPF), which is an algorithm for single target tracking in clutter by incorporating the probability of target existence into the traditional particle filter as a track quality measure for false track discrimination (FTD). Error Analysis of Multidimensional Evaluation of Pilot’s Workload Based on Objective Measures

Evaluation of pilot’s workload during flight is a significant consideration for the safety of civil aviation. However, some errors may be brought in the measurement and the recording of objective parameters. Based on a multidimensional workload evaluation, the time delay of cardiac activity and its impacts on workload are analyzed. The results suggest that within a certain limit of error around 10s, varying from individual to individual, workload can keep the main information compared to the original workload. As the error increases, the workload may become unreliable.

It is essential for vehicles acquiring one’s own current position to navigate autonomously. Especially, vehicles usually do not clearly obtain GPS information at indoor environments. In order to localize itself, vehicles have to use absolute and relative measurement systems from surrounding environmental and its driving information. Absolute position information such as environmental structures and magnets located on the ground can be used for offsetting the error of vehicle’s relative position estimated from encoder and inertial sensors.

The measurement uncertainty evaluation of a reversal error source for the ALSM

most recently, the measurement uncertainty evaluation employs entirely for evaluating the measurement process which is also use to investigate the residual error of length measuring system. This paper presents the measurement uncertainty of the reversal errors that would be compensated by using the error with the measurement uncertainty compensation module. The confident level of measurement uncertainty is approximately 95%. This evaluation result of the measuring system errors were approximately minimized to 8.0 µm.
